Magazine love…

Great decorating or thrifty ideas, DIY and flowers make a magazine a possible buy for me. Do It Yourself, a Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publication, is probably the magazine I pick up the most. The latest issue is loaded with great ideas, and inspiration…I really like the “Garden Fresh” article showing how to make a garden bed. This just might be my weekend project.

As an artist working on surface design, I look for materials that help and inspire. I recently discovered Uppercase magazine, the magazine “for the creative and curious.” The April/May/June 2014 issue is beautiful and inspiring. There is a special section showcasing 100 profiles of Surface Pattern Designers. This is a wonderful magazine for the creative soul, and reading through it is like a visual visit to an Anthropologie store.

Inspiration is all around…sometimes it comes from a walk through the neighborhood, a visit to a local farmers market or a beautiful magazine.

Life can be messy. Keeping track of what is important is key to being at peace.

The more clutter, the less time to focus on important stuff. What brings enjoyment is often postponed because the clutter overtakes life and time is spent on keeping track of all the clutter.

Clutter can be possessions, debt, anger, fear, worry; anything that prevents us from living a life of fulfillment, joy, peace of mind, financial success, and simplicity.

The big question is how can clutter be controlled?  How can clutter be eliminated? Sometimes a step by step process is the best way to take action against clutter.

“7 Simple Steps to Unclutter Your Life” by Donna Smallin is a great resource for getting that process started. The practical steps outlined in the book are simple, easy and sensible. There is no magic formula for removing clutter; however, a plan of attack helps move the process along.

This book has been in my library for several years. It really is a practical step by step process that works. The positive advice in this book is inspiring and challenging. Each chapter is set up to offer ways to make changes that will have long term benefits, and help form better habits for life. Going through the step by step process and applying what fits the individual life will reveal a clear path to clearing clutter.

***The only thing I would add to this book is to put God first, because He makes life much better. This review is not compensated and is the opinion of the writer of this blog.***

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10 NIV
